Rooming in was a great experience. It was so fun to have the boys all to ourselves. To get to play with them and let them hang out together on our big bed.
And take lots of pictures of them together looking so cute and so different. It is hysterical to me that my doctor was convinced that the boys were identical when he was looking at them in the operating room. These boys are so not identical.
I wanted to remind them what they had been like for so many months in my tummy. Probably a little more comfy for Sam without my ribs in the way of his bootie up there!
The boys last night in the hospital!
Ready to head home. (I wore this shirt the day that we came home with Laney too. It is my "bringing babies home shirt")
Todd's shirt also holds some obvious significance!
They looked like such little specks in their carseats. Our carseats are hand-me-downs, because we are so super lucky. My life long best friend Becca's sister had twins 10 months ago and she let us borrow so many of her things. We are so super blessed. You can see Melissa and her sweet family and precious twinsies at their blog.
I ordered matching carseat covers for the boys from a super cute Etsy site, but they didn't come in time for my little preemies. We have gotten them now and I love them!
Let's Go Home!!!!
I was so excited to see Laney and introduce her to her brothers. We were a little worried that she was going to resent the boys and be angry at them. She has not acted that way at all. She loves them and wants to be near them and playing with them at all times. She has no bad feelings toward them at all. That is not to say that she is not struggling a bit through this transition. She is really on edge and melts down at the drop of a hat. She has been much more whiney and disagreeable than she has ever been before. We are certain that this is normal and don't expect it to last very long. She is such a sweet girl and even in the midst of all this craziness, we are still seeing lots of that precious personality that we love so much!
Laney immediately wanted to start taking care of "her babies" She brought them both diapers.
And tried to give them both bottles. (she was very well supervised during all this care taking)

She gave them their passies.

We really want Laney to feel like she is an active and important part of everything that is changing in our family. She is totally on board with that!!
Helping Daddy change a diaper!
Laney with her littlest brother Sam! She LOVES holding them!
And kissing them!

I love seeing all the pics of them at your house! Laney is a sweet big sis, as we knew she would be.
I am so glad you are home with the boys and Laney! You are one big happy family of FIVE! :) It is so precious that Laney calls them both Sam. I had a friend who had twin sisters and it wasn't until a few weeks after they were home he said, "There are TWO BABIES mom?" :) It took him a while to realize there was more than one! And you look FABULOUS!
So precious to see the boys with Laney! I am so ecited they got to come home and all is well, I wish you lots and lots of patience and as much sleep as you can get with your three! Just remember to ask for help when you feel overwhelmed, twins can be very hard on a momma-even a momma who loves them dearly- aand to have a bib sis ter Laney to take care of also is quite a handful. I just worry about you and I wish I could help you more.
Big hugs and congratulations on the boys coming home! Let the rukus(sp?) begin!

Looks like you're doing great! Don't hesitate to call if you want to chat with someone who has been there recently! I know those first few days, weeks, and months with twins are overwhelming. Hugs and love!
Kristen,
It is so great to see you home with your precious boys! I know Laney will be the perfect big sister!
I'm so happy to know you're all home together!
Woohoo!! I have been blog stalking you to see pics of you guys at home. I am so thrilled for you! It is a big adjustment, but you are going to do beautifully. I love the co-bedding. Enjoy it, it goes by too fast! Call or email with any 2 year old and newborn twin questions- you know I have been there.
Oh, and you look ridiculously amazing. Seriously.
Happy 2 weeks Miles and Sam!
I'm so happy that y'all are all home and enjoying your family of 5! So exciting! Hey, I'm planning to bring dinner on Tuesday night if that's okay. Just let me know if you had already made other plans!
Love to you all!
Beautful! Congratulations! I'm so glad you are all home and healthy. Now to get on with life right? :)
"We have not figured all this out yet, and by "all this" I mean any of this"
That made me laugh! Of course you haven't figured it all out. You seem lighthearted and more realistic about it than I was with my first [singelton] newborn. Each child, though, causes its own adjustments. One of my three, I felt like it took the whole first year to get into rhythm, another took only a few weeks before things felt "natural". You'll get your groove and it appears that you have plenty of help.
Congratulations on the sweet boys getting home. Soak it in. I'm praising God for this terrific miracle of birth and family!
You are so smart to allow and encourage Laney to be involved with the twins. This makes her feel so significant in a time where everything is topsy-turvy. What great instinct you both have!
The meltdowns are normal as well. They will get better. We are so happy to hear that you are home. I can't wait to meet the boys!
Love you guys!
Virginia and Jason
Yay!!! I'm soooo excited for ya'll!!! Also, very impressed that you have already been able to post!!! Laney looks soooo happy to have her brothers home! It al makes me look forward to seeing our new "little"! ;) We have 6 1/2 weeks left, and so far I haven't had any before their due dates yet, but this year would be nice, since the due date is 12-31-08! hahaha! Praying for a continued smooth transition for all of you! Your little guys are soooo cute! Congrats!
So sweet. I am so happy for you guys!
